Experience Specialist Linda Fildes has received the Housing Association Referrer of the Year award from Mediation Buckinghamshire for making the most referrals in 2018.
Mediation Buckinghamshire, a not-for-profit organisation, helps people to resolve disputes through constructive discussions that allow them to reach their own solutions and agreements.
John Eliot, manager at of the charity which is based in High Wycombe, said:
"We help mediate between neighbours to try and resolve matters such as parking, noise and antisocial behaviour.
“Linda has referred cases to us throughout the year which our volunteers have helped with. It means people can meet in a neutral place, talk through the issues and then find a resolution. We are independent and have no bias or constraints on time. It is far better to resolve matters through mediation as it means things can often be sorted out quicker and without having to go further in a more formal process, such as involving police or other agencies.”
Linda added:
“We are really lucky to have this free service in the area. It is one of the first things we look at when there are neighbourhood disputes. We suggest people sort things out via mediation as it really does help and means issues are sorted out quickly and without the need to escalate them.”
