Residents in Downley were able to dispose of unwanted household waste for free on Wednesday 2nd July thanks to another successful community skip day funded by our tenant-led Environmental Improvement Group (EIG).
The event was organised in partnership with local councillor Maz Hussain and marked the second time Red Kite and Maz have worked together to deliver a skip day for the area. The initiative aimed to help residents clear unwanted items from their homes while tackling fly tipping, which is an ongoing issue in the neighbourhood.
Skips were placed at several locations across Downley, giving residents a convenient way to dispose of bulky household waste responsibly. Alongside the skip day, a community litter pick took place to help tidy the local area and support the day's aim of creating a cleaner, greener neighbourhood.
Local councillor Maz Hussain said:
"We had a very successful Skip Day in Disraeli, and it was fantastic to see so many residents making use of the free skips. It was also a pleasure to speak with so many of you throughout the day and hear how much this initiative was appreciated by the people of Disraeli.
"A big thank you to Red Kite Community Housing for their generous support and funding, which helped make this event possible. Thank you as well to everyone who took part in the litter-picking and played their part in making our community cleaner and greener.
"Working together, we can continue to take pride in our neighbourhood and keep Disraeli clean for everyone."
We're proud to have supported another successful community event through EIG funding. By working with local partners and residents, we can help keep our neighbourhoods clean, tidy and welcoming places to live.
