As temperatures continue to soar, the wellbeing of our tenants remains our top priority.
At Red Kite, we recognise that health and housing go hand in hand. On Wednesday 24th June, staff came together to make sure our tenants had the support, reassurance and information they needed to stay safe and well.
As part of this proactive wellbeing initiative we:
- Carried out wellbeing visits to 240 sheltered housing tenants identified as among our most vulnerable
- Made 140 courtesy telephone calls to tenants with recorded vulnerabilities to check they were safe and had access to support
- Sent text messages to all tenants with advice on staying hydrated, keeping cool, checking on neighbours and seeking medical help if needed
- Reminded contractors to follow health and safety guidance while working in extreme temperatures
- Shared wellbeing and safety reminders with staff.
We also heard positive feedback from tenants, with one saying they were “very pleased to hear that we are contacting tenants” and another “very appreciative of us calling to check in”. We saw first-hand the difference this made, from those grateful for support like cold water during the heat to others who felt reassured knowing we were there for them.
These actions show our commitment to putting tenants first and supporting the wellbeing of our communities.
Thank you to everyone who supported this work. For us, housing is about more than bricks and mortar, it is about people.
