We're supporting Fire Door Safety Week this week to help raise awareness of the important role fire doors play in keeping people safe.
Fire doors are designed to slow the spread of fire and smoke, helping to protect lives and property if a fire breaks out.
Whether it's the fire door to your home or a fire door in a communal area, it's important that it remains in good condition and is used correctly. Fire doors can only do their job properly when they are working as intended.
You can help by:
- Never wedging fire doors open
- Keeping communal areas clear
- Taking care not to damage fire doors or their fittings
- Reporting any damage or concerns as soon as possible.
If you notice a fire door that isn't closing properly, appears damaged, has broken fittings or has large gaps around the frame, please let us know. Prompt reporting helps us investigate issues quickly and ensure fire safety features remain effective.
