Energy efficiency works and our commitment to our tenants’ safety

News
11 May 2026

Recent national news coverage about insulation work in the social housing sector may have raised understandable questions for many of our tenants. At Red Kite, your safety, comfort and confidence always come first, so we want to be absolutely clear about the steps we take to protect you and your home.

Our contractors E.ON and IZ Energy are delivering energy efficiency improvements through the government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund. They have no involvement in the issues highlighted in recent media reports. We only work with trusted, accredited specialists who meet strict industry standards and who have a proven track record of high‑quality, compliant installation work.

Before any contractor is appointed, they undergo a thorough procurement and due‑diligence process. This includes checks on their technical competence, safety performance, financial stability and regulatory compliance. We continue to monitor their work closely throughout every project.

We know that the insulation materials being used by some contractors have been identified as inappropriate. To reassure you:

  • All materials used in your home are fully certified, industry‑approved, and appropriate for your home
  • Installations follow the latest building regulations and recognised best‑practice standards
  • Independent quality inspections are carried out to ensure the work is completed safely and correctly.

Your home will never be fitted with products that fall short of these requirements.

Why these improvements matter

Taking up the offer of energy efficiency works brings real, long‑term benefits for you and your household:

  • Lower energy bills – better insulation helps your home stay warmer for longer, reducing the amount of heating you need
  • A more comfortable home – improved warmth, fewer draughts and more consistent temperatures throughout the year
  • A healthier living environment – high‑quality insulation can help reduce condensation and damp
  • A greener future – using less energy means a smaller carbon footprint, supporting national efforts to tackle climate change.

These upgrades are part-funded through the government scheme, and partly by Red Kite – meaning you receive lasting improvements at no cost to you.

Not only that, where we can install solar panels on a home, any credit from the power that these generate will be passed back to the tenant and offset against their bill with their energy supplier.

We’re here to support you

If you have questions about the work, the materials being used, or the contractors involved, you can always contact us. We want every tenant to feel informed, reassured and confident about the improvements being offered.

By taking up the offer of energy efficiency works you’re not only making your home warmer and more affordable to run — you’re also contributing to a more sustainable future for our community.
