On Wednesday 17th July, we celebrated the hard work and dedication of our tenant volunteers by hosting a thank you afternoon tea at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre.

Table Setting At Thank You Event

The event, organised by tenant volunteers in our Event Focus Group and staff in our Resident & Community Engagement Team, went down a treat and it was great to have a chance to emphasise the importance of our volunteers.

Event Focus Group And Staff

So far this year, we’ve seen tenant volunteers approve the closure of our first official scrutiny, watched the Chair of our Resident Representative Team Candida, win a Women in Housing Award and witnessed volunteers in our Environmental Improvement Group help our tenants at Brooke Furmston Place transform their communal garden.

Volunteers and staff got together for an afternoon filled with games, laughter, and of course an impressive spread of cakes and sandwiches.

We kicked off with speeches from our Deputy CEO Alan Keers and Head of Resident & Community Engagement Sophie Field, followed by a lively quiz hosted by Jon Upchurch, our Volunteering, Engagement & Events Manager, that brought out everyone's competitive spirit – congratulations to table six for getting nine out of ten answers correct! We then got stuck into the delicious food on offer and played some classic board games – who remembers Buckaroo?

Pictures of staff and volunteers were showcased on screens at the venue, making everyone stop and think about all we’ve achieved since our last thank you party.

Jon, Volunteering, Engagement & Events Manager, who played a leading role in the event, said:

"What a lovely day we had in the sunshine! Our annual Thank You Event for our amazing volunteers was full of laughter and friendship and lovely food. But beneath all the fun, relationships were being built, new connections were being made between tenants and staff, and our commitment to being a tenant-led organisation was both reinforced and celebrated.

"Saying thank you to our volunteers for the hours of dedication they put into our organisation is so important - we truly would not be where we are now without them and all of our staff recognise that."

With the successful event over for another year, all that’s left to say is a big thank you to all of our volunteers. You help to make us the best housing association we can be and allow us to continue to be truly tenant led.
