We're delighted to announce that our contractor working on the development at Tyzack Road has been named as the winner at the 2023 Leading Lights Awards, run by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
TSG Building Services plc were awarded top spot in the Community Enrichment section of the Awards' Community category for their initiative aimed at aiding the local community in the cost-of-living crisis.
Having forged a long-term relationship with the local community around the Tyzack Road development in High Wycombe, TSG have gone to exceptional lengths to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable adults, families and pensioners struggling with the cost of living.
The Tyzack Road development involved the construction of two shared ownership and seven affordable rent homes on a former garage site. TSG pride themselves on giving back to the local community and valued the opportunity to connect with local residents, including many of our tenants, to identify how they could deliver a positive impact.
Having invited residents to an event to view plans for the development and meet the team, TSG's site manager was able to connect with local households in order to understand the dynamics of the area and direct resources to the people who needed them the most.
The TSG team then donated excess building materials and supplied labour to rebuild fences and walls to provide privacy from the site and improve the general aesthetics of the street.
TSG also invited children from local schools to the site to teach them about construction and safety. The site manager asked the children to put their knowledge and creativity to the test with a construction site picture competition.
TSG were presented with their award at a celebratory event in London on Monday 27th November. The citation for their award said:
"This project is an exceptional example of a company going above and beyond, showing genuine care and consideration for the community. Delivering a meaningful impact reflective of the needs of the area, this initiative has generated high levels of engagement and created a complaint-free project. Local residents have positively engaged with the site team, and have demonstrated their gratitude by donating food, furniture and even Christmas decorations to TSG’s welfare unit on site."
The Considerate Constructors Scheme supports and drives positive change in the construction industry. Their Code of Considerate Practice helps drive higher standards across construction activities. They created the Leading Lights Awards to celebrate contractors, suppliers and sites registered with the Scheme, and individuals in their workforce, that have significantly raised the bar in being a considerate constructor, not just by following, but by going above and beyond the Code.
