This week, we donated 30 crates of food and essential household items to One Can Trust, helping the High Wycombe charity continue its vital work supporting local people facing financial hardship.
The donation, delivered on Monday 6th July, was made in response to a recent appeal from One Can Trust for items in short supply, including long-life (UHT) milk, tinned fruit and tinned meat meals. These are among the foodbank's current priority items, alongside staples such as rice, tinned fish, pasta sauce, toothpaste and toiletries.
As well as purchasing urgently needed items, we donated several bags of food collected through our staff donation point.
We also donate any unopened, in-date food, cleaning products and hygiene items found when clearing empty homes. This helps make sure perfectly good essentials are put to good use rather than going to waste.
Julie Gamble-Kempe, Head of Communications and Brang at Red Kite, said:
"We're proud to support One Can Trust and the work they do for our community. We know that many of our tenants rely on their support during difficult times, and we're incredibly grateful that this vital service is there when it's needed most.
"When we saw their recent appeal, we knew we had to help. Along with donations collected by our colleagues and items we've rescued from our empty homes, we were able to provide 30 crates of food and essentials that will make a real difference to local families."
