Red Kite community funding helps bring free ParkPlay sessions to High Wycombe

News
23 April 2026

Residents in High Wycombe are enjoying more opportunities to be active, have fun and connect with others thanks to our Starting Blocks community fund.

We awarded a Starting Blocks grant to ParkPlay, helping to launch free weekly ParkPlay sessions at Desborough Recreation Ground in High Wycombe. The sessions are run in partnership with volunteers from local community group Women’s Cultural Arena, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive space for people of all ages to get moving and meet others in their community.

Ed Perry, Operations Director at ParkPlay, said:

"Red Kite’s funding was instrumental in starting ParkPlay at Desborough Rec in High Wycombe. With the support of volunteers from Women’s Cultural Arena, there are now frequently 30-40 people playing and connecting with one another every Saturday morning for free."

Building on the success of Desborough Rec, ParkPlay also runs sessions at Booker Recreation Ground, helping even more local residents enjoy free, regular outdoor play and activity.

ParkPlay sessions take place every Saturday in High Wycombe, and everyone is welcome to join in for free:

  • Booker Recreation Ground – 10.30am
  • Desborough Recreation Ground – 11.30am

Our Starting Blocks grants are part of our wider community funding programme, which supports local groups and projects that make a positive difference to people’s lives. The funding helps grassroots organisations get ideas off the ground - from improving health and wellbeing to strengthening community connections.

ParkPlay sessions are inclusive, relaxed and fun, making them a great way for families, friends and neighbours to enjoy time together outdoors.
