Here at Red Kite we’re passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and we recognise that to do this, we need to work in partnership with other organisations in the community.
We have funded Wycombe Mind’s Free Space project for the last three years. It was developed to provide dedicated support to those affected by issues relating to hoarding, and the project has helped to improve the mental health and wellbeing of tenants whose home environment was negatively affecting them. We began by supporting this project through our Springboard fund but soon realised how important this service was and now use Wycombe Mind as a contractor for complex hoarding cases.
Monika, our Homes Manager, and Ashley, our Relationship Team Leader, worked with Wycombe Mind on a recent case where this partnership was key in overcoming obstacles and, most importantly, helping our tenant.
While carrying out a Home Check with a tenant, one of our Community Specialists spotted that not only was the condition of the home deteriorating and the tenant seemed to be struggling, but there was no gas or electricity in the home. They quickly escalated the case, and Wycombe Mind were brought in to provide guidance and support.
Wycombe Mind already had a relationship with the tenant, making it easier for them to gain access into the home so that essential repairs could be carried out. They went above and beyond, clearing the tenant’s home, offering them mental health support, and even delivering a Christmas meal to them.
Ashley said:
"I think this case shows exactly how important our relationship with Wycombe Mind truly is. The support they offer our tenants is first class and the benefits are never-ending!"
Julia Wassell from Wycombe Mind added:
"The partnership that we have with Red Kite is great, we’re so happy with it
"Here at Wycombe Mind, we will always go the extra mile for our clients, and we feel that Red Kite and their contractors do that too, which is not something you see all the time."
Red Kite is thrilled to be able to support Wycombe Mind in delivering such an important project providing essential support to those in need.
