With tasks ranging from painting to spreading horse muck on the roses, staff at Red Kite got stuck into their Community Morning on Wednesday 9th May.
Every year Red Kite staff are given a morning out of the office to help with community projects. This year they were involved with helping at local schools, working with Chiltern Rangers, Shopmobility and Bucks Mind as well as archiving at Wycombe Museum.
Walls, fences and benches have been painted, weeds removed and overgrown areas tidied. One group also spent the morning talking to and playing games with dementia patients as well as cooking breakfast at one of our sheltered housing schemes.
Robert from Lady Ryder Memorial Garden said:
“The impact of the ‘Red (Kite) army’ is extraordinary – all sorts of things have been done that would have languished otherwise and we are immensely grateful. That your staff also enjoyed themselves makes it doubly worthwhile and the only improvement I can think of is that you should do it twice a year!”
Hannah at Wycombe Museum was also grateful for all the hard work put in by volunteers and was really impressed with how quickly tasks were completed.
Martin, site manager at High Wycombe C of E School, was really pleased with the work staff carried out to clear an area of land to make way for a quiet space for the children.
He said:
“The volunteers were a credit to Red Kite; with their enthusiasm and willingness to help. The volunteers seemed genuinely happy and willing to do any task to help. The icing on the cake was that not only did they help us create a mountain of rubbish (nearly all organic material) but to arrange for it to be collected was a massive help.”
Sheila at Community Grow said:
“I can honestly say that it was a pleasure to work with your team on the Princess Risborough Project. They were enthusiastic, innovative, came up with ideas and worked strongly as a team and we had a laugh."
Sandcastle Nursery added:
“The girls were so lovely and very enthusiastic throughout their morning with us. They worked so hard and enjoyed themselves in the garden. They made a huge impact in our nursery garden. We look forward to working with you and your lovely team in the future.”
Beechview School said:
“The Red Kite team have done a fantastic job in getting us a step further forward to where we are going. The team were amazing! We also managed to get some children down to help.”
Wrights Meadow Centre said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome the team to the Wrights Meadow Centre and they certainly worked hard and made a positive difference. At the Centre I have had some very positive remarks from customers who have noticed a big difference.”
