On Wednesday 18th February, our Resident & Community Engagement Team held a collaborative scrutiny workshop with seven of our tenant volunteers. These tenants represented the Springboard e-Panel, the Repairs and Empty Homes group, the Procurement group, and the Environmental Improvement Group (EIG) - just some of the groups which play such an important role in making sure that we remain truly tenant-led through everything that we do.
Resident Representative Team (RRT) Chair Ron Fowler and Vice Chair Carol Bacchus led the session where the volunteers and staff members co-designed a letter to be sent to tenants seeking their buy-in for vital improvement works which will make their homes more energy-efficient and lead to lower energy bills. After presentations from the Red Kite staff members, volunteers split into groups to review and improve the letter, ensuring the information was clear and relevant.
RRT conduct one formal scrutiny review per year, and this time the review focused on why tenants refuse works which ultimately should benefit them. The tenant-led review developed five recommendations, with a total of eleven actions for Red Kite to improve the rate of uptake. Ron and Carol will present their updated action plan on this scrutiny review to members of our Board at the start of next month.
The active involvement of tenants is vital in ensuring our services truly meet their needs and expectations. By listening to tenant voices, we can tailor our programmes and communications more effectively, fostering a sense of ownership and greater trust within the community. This collaborative approach not only leads to better service outcomes but also empowers tenants, making them valued partners in the decision-making process.
