Help with furniture and carpets

Do you need some help furnishing your Red Kite home? If so, then we can help.

Central Aid

Central Aid provide cheap, reasonable quality, second-hand furniture, appliances, furnishings and flooring to people on low incomes throughout Buckinghamshire.

If one of our tenants is in financial hardship and cannot make any payment, or only a small voluntary contribution, we can refer them to Central Aid, who can offer extra help – after doing an income and expenditure check we can apply for furniture and other household items (such as bedding, kitchen utensils etc.) that they need.

Where tenants move out and leave good condition white goods behind, we also work with Central Aid who will collect and redistribute these.

Other sources of support

Lightning Reach

The Lightning Reach Portal is a helpful free resource that makes it easy to find out what financial support you might be eligible for. It brings together a wide range of options — from grants for furniture and white goods to discounted energy tariffs, school uniform support and plenty more. You just enter your details, which are kept securely, and it highlights the schemes that fit your situation and guides you through the application process.

Family Fund

Family Fund is the UK's largest grant-making charity for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child, on a low income. They offer grants to families on a low income for items they may not otherwise be able to afford, such as digital equipment, white goods, clothing, bedding, furniture and play equipment.

Oxfordshire Residents Support Scheme

Oxfordshire Residents Support Scheme is a local hardship fund designed to help residents who are in, or at risk of being in, crisis, need immediate help, and have no other source of financial support available. Support is available in some circumstances for essential household items, including white goods and furniture. The scheme is intended for one-off crisis or emergency needs, not ongoing expenses. Furniture or appliances will be purchased through the scheme and delivered directly to your home within five working days. Old items will be removed and new ones installed where applicable.

Windsor Lions

The Windsor Lions Community Services Committee (CSC) will consider requests for the provision of household items such as carpeting or white goods, for a service such as clearing an overgrown garden or help with moving furniture. In most cases two Windsor Lions Club members will visit the person who has made the request to assess what support the Club is able to provide. If an application is successful, the CSC will arrange for the requested goods or funds to be provided, or for a work party to attend to carry out whatever is required. Contact The Windsor Lions Club CSC on 0345 833 5953, or email welfare@windsorlions.co.uk.
