Yesterday (Wednesday 28th May) our Estates team were out and about doing a thorough litter pick around High Wycombe town centre. Equipped with litter pickers and bin bags, they targeted areas including Archdale, Rutland Street, Suffield Road, West End Street, Mahoney Court, Shaftesbury Street, and the Desborough Street play area, successfully gathering six bags of rubbish.

During their efforts, they also discovered and reported several bulky waste items, such as a car bumper, a mattress, a trolley, a suitcase, a fence panel, and a trampoline.

As well as these regular clean-up operations, we also provide significant funding for upcoming community initiatives through our Environmental Improvement Group (EIG). EIG recently approved the hire of some skips to be placed in the Disraeli ward area next month, for local residents to use. This initiative came about after Buckinghamshire Councillor Maz Hussain submitted the request and then shared his excitement on Facebook, posting:
“I had a productive meeting with the team at Red Kite Community Housing today, and I’m excited to share that we have secured multiple skips to be placed around Disraeli for our residents to use – free of charge! These should be arriving sometime next month. I’ll keep you updated with more accurate details as soon as I have them.”

EIG have also approved funding to improve the Desborough Street play area. This decision follows weekly visits to remove rubbish and tidy the area up. This is an ongoing project, so look out for updates on progress here and across our social media channels.
