We’re committed to making our communities great places for people to live. This year, we once again proudly participated in the Great British Spring Clean , a nationwide campaign focussed on cleaning up our communities.

We have a dedicated fund that is available to spend on neighbourhood and environmental improvements. The Environmental Improvement Group (EIG) uses this funding to make a difference to the places where our tenants live. The tenant-led group recently purchased litter grabbers and hoops to make litter picks that bit easier.

In Downley, our team, joined by local Buckinghamshire Councillor Maz Hussain, staff from John O’Conner, Simon from Buckinghamshire Council's Waste Department, and staff and students from Disraeli School, worked tirelessly to clear litter from green areas and streets, ensuring that the area remains a welcoming space for tenants and residents.

In Castlefield, we focused on cleaning up pathways and woodland areas, making them safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

Meanwhile, in Marlow, our team tackled litter hotspots such as garage sites, alongside more staff from John O’Conner, transforming them into cleaner and more pleasant environments.

Marlow Team

When out on our litter picks, some fly-tipping and other issues were spotted, which were swiftly passed across to the relevant teams to resolve.

Local residents were so pleased to see us out and about tackling the litter issue some communities face, with one resident in Marlow stopping their car to lean over and shout, “Thank you so much for doing this, it’s so great to see you out here. The area really needed it.”

Throughout all three litter picks, we collected roughly 50 bags of rubbish. The team also managed to convince the sun to come out during the events – what more could you ask for!

Janine Healy, our Estates Manager, who organised these litter picking events and pledged our commitment to the Great British Spring Clean said:

“This is the third year we have participated in The Great British Spring Clean. We’ve been able to put to good use the equipment our EIG funded, and we use these out in our communities all year round. Please reach out if you live in a Red Kite area that needs our attention.”
