At Red Kite Community Housing, we’re proud to work alongside our dedicated tenant volunteers who help shape our services and strengthen our communities.

During the last financial year, we saw a remarkable 65 unique tenant volunteers involved in engagement activities, contributing an impressive 1,438 hours across 101 activities, meetings, and events - including 112 hours on staff interview panels. 16 new tenant volunteers were also welcomed to the team.

On Wednesday 16th July, we hosted our annual Thank You Event at Wycombe Heights Golf Club, welcoming more than 30 volunteers for a day of appreciation, connection, and celebration.

Tenants And Staff Chatting

The beach themed event kicked off at 11am with a relaxed hour of mingling, where volunteers and staff shared stories, laughter, and reflections on the past year. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible impact our volunteers have made.

Tenants Posing On Deck Chairs

Sophie Field, our Head of Resident and Community Engagement, opened the formal part of the day with a heartfelt welcome and a toast to all our volunteers - including those who couldn’t make it to the event.

Staff Giving Speech

Alan Keers, our Deputy CEO, followed with a speech about the vital role volunteers play in shaping Red Kite and the services we provide. He then introduced our Interim Group CEO, Susan Hickey, who expressed her thanks and presented Length of Service Awards to some of our long-standing volunteers - a proud moment for all of us.

Tenant Being Presented With Her Award

After the speeches, guests enjoyed a delicious lunch of classic sandwiches and an irresistible spread of cakes. The fun didn’t stop there - several lively rounds of bingo brought out everyone’s competitive side and had the room buzzing with excitement. It was such a hit that no one wanted to stop playing!

The day wrapped up with more chatting and laughter.

Sophie said, “Our volunteers are the heart of Red Kite. Their meaningful involvement helps shape who we are as an organisation. Today was about celebrating them and saying thank you for everything they do.”
