At DSCVR Creative we’ve provided a transformative space for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to explore their creativity, build confidence, and make positive life choices through music, thanks to Red Kite Community Housing’s Springboard fund. Over the past year, 40 young participants joined our sessions, all of whom shared overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Our sessions focused on inspiring young individuals to express themselves creatively. With free access to recording equipment, participants created their own music, explored song writing, and even used the space for therapeutic purposes.

Attendee Recording Music

Skill development: One participant transitioned from mastering recording music to learning guitar with software provided through the project.

Therapeutic benefits: Another participant used music to reflect and manage their emotions, demonstrating the studio’s positive impact on mental wellbeing.

Confidence building: A young artist recorded their first song and progressed to producing a music video, which garnered over 7,000 views on YouTube.

Operating in High Wycombe, an area with high rates of antisocial behaviour, our project provided a safe and constructive outlet. By keeping participants engaged, we helped reduce risky behaviours such as drug use, gang involvement, and violence. Parents praised the project for improving their children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Moving forward, DSCVR Creative will focus more on music production, leveraging our team’s expertise to deliver even greater impact. We’ve discovered new ways to make music accessible, helping participants with minimal experience create songs they’re proud of, boosting their confidence and self-esteem.

Thank you, Red Kite!
