Clearing a public footpath thanks to community funding

By Brian Tranter – Chair of Booker Common and Woods Protection Society

In December, with equipment paid for using generous funding from Red Kite Community Housing’s Springboard fund, our volunteers ventured a little beyond the common to clear the public footpath that runs between Limmer Lane and the field at the top of Horns Lane.

The path had become overgrown and before our volunteers – Tony, Sally, Hedley and me (Brian) – set to work was completely impassable.

It took us a couple of hours to work our way along the path, cutting, mowing and raking.

We really appreciate the funding from Red Kite, as this allowed us to purchase the equipment used to make this job happen – thank you, Red Kite!

Take a look at the 'before and after' below.
