Starting Blocks grant brings spring to Patches Field

News
8 December 2025

Friday 5th December saw a Starting Blocks grant spring into action at Patches Field Sheltered Scheme. Volunteers from Wycombe Environment Centre joined forces with John O’Conner and our Estates Team to plant thousands of daffodil bulbs, creating a vibrant splash of colour for tenants to enjoy in the months ahead.

The idea came from Robert, a long-standing Red Kite member and tenant at Patches Field, who applied for the grant through our Starting Blocks community funding programme. Starting Blocks is designed to help bring ideas to life – whether it’s improving communal spaces, supporting wellbeing, or strengthening community spirit.

This project shows how tenant ideas and local partnerships can bring real improvements to our communities. We can’t wait to return in spring to see the bulbs in full bloom and capture the colourful transformation.
