Gwen Snook, Red Kite Community Housing’s oldest tenant, celebrated her 106th birthday on Friday 15th June with a tea party in her honour.
Mrs Snook, who has lived in High Wycombe since she was three years old, said:
“I never imagined I would get to this age. I love living in High Wycombe and I really enjoy the view over the town from my home. Let’s hope we get to do this all again next year!”
Former High Wycombe Mayor Khalil Ahmed and Red Kite’s deputy chief executive Alan Keers attended the tea party along with Mrs Snook’s friends and neighbours in Downley. She proudly displayed a birthday card from the queen and a telegram from the government.
Alan said:
"It was fabulous to see so many well-wishers gather to wish Gwen a happy 106th birthday, she is well known locally, having been a resident of Downley for over 24 years.
"I was delighted to be able to share some time with Gwen, who took everything in her stride, which undoubtedly is one of the reasons that she has achieved this magnificent milestone."
Red Kite presented Mrs Snook with a celebration cake and flowers to mark her landmark birthday.
