1st October marks International Day of Older Persons, a day that focuses on the important contributions that older people make to our society. As a charitable housing association, we manage 29 sheltered housing schemes for people over the age of 60 across the Wycombe district. So we know how important it is to bear in mind the needs, issues and challenges that older people face every day.

That’s why on Wednesday 27th September, we held our International Older Persons Day Quiz, which is the second year running that we’ve held the event across our sheltered housing schemes. We had 16 teams taking part on the day (a total of 72 participants, plus 45 members of staff) with three of our schemes entering two teams each. This year’s winners were from Brooke Furmston Place and scored a whopping 98 points! The teams from Nickson Court and Hicks Farm Rise were joint runners up, both scoring an impressive 88 points.

Everyone had a great time as you can see in the video of highlights below! The team from Orchard House enjoyed it so much that they are now going to organise their own quiz events and we have sent them some of our own quiz material to get them started.

The winning team will be treated to a cooked breakfast at Hill’s Café later this month when they will be presented with the winner’s trophy. Well done to everyone who took part - we’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
