Recently, the fire crew at High Wycombe Fire Station have been using empty buildings at our Castlefield estate to train their firefighters.
Focusing on breathing apparatus training, the firefighters have been able to recreate a wide range of scenarios, using simulated smoke. This means they can test new equipment, such as thermal imaging cameras, in controlled environments.
We are planning to regenerate our flats at Castlefield, and have moved all of our customers into alternative homes while we prepare for work to begin in the next year. As these flats are empty, they make for perfect conditions for these firefighters to train without disrupting anyone.Home - Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service
Richard Jameson, Crew Commander at Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue service told us:
"We would like to thank Red Kite Community Housing for allowing us the use of this facility. It has allowed us to improve the quality of training we can deliver here on our own station ground no end, while at the same time leaving us available to respond to our community should we need to."
