The Red Kite office buzzed with activity on Tuesday 5th March, as we hosted another successful networking event. This event brought together local residents, businesses, and community organisations including those we have supported through community funding.
The event served as a valuable platform for organisations to connect, share experiences, and explore collaborative opportunities to support the local community.
We were delighted to welcome three presenters:
Matthew Rogers, Head of Civic Engagement and Communications at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), talked about a new local initiative - High Wycombe Community Advice Hub - that brings together key local services under one roof.
Charmain Clayton, Community Engagement Officer at BNU and Lewis Baker, of Phoenix Lifestyle Innovations. Charmain and Lewis gave a moving presentation on an initiative they’ve set up called Wellness Warriors on the Run, a fitness programme designed to support those recovering from addiction.
Finally, we were joined by our youngest speaker, Iqra Bawany, aged 19, CEO & Co-Founder of Girl 2030, a programme that support girls in tech. She recently spoke at the Davos 2024 World Economic Forum about Women in Tech and Breaking Barriers.
Nahida Latif, who leads on organising our networking events, reflected on its success:
"We were thrilled to welcome 21 local organisations, with four of them joining us for the first time. The day was filled with insightful discussions about the incredible work happening within our community and the potential for collaboration to better serve our residents. We witnessed valuable connections being formed, and we're excited to see the positive outcomes that emerge from these interactions."
