Business start up course September 2018
Red Kite is keen to realise the potential in our communities. Since 2015, Red Kite has given residents the opportunity to come on a free course to learn how to set up their own business. It has been a resounding success with graduates of the course well on their way to establishing fantastic local businesses.
In November 2018 a graduation event was held for our autumn business start-up group. The graduates were given the opportunity to deliver presentations and pitch for funding in front of the expert panel. The panel consisted of Trevor Morrow (Red Kite’s chief executive), Ian Mackey (Buckinghamshire Business First), Andrew James (MD at Manor Estates Groundcare Ltd), and volunteers tenants Michelle Ball and Dave Jenkinson.
In total seven participants graduated; Ashley, Zoe, Richard, Fizza, Jayne, Ramaali & Wathsala. The successful candidates who received funding are Zoe, £1,850, Fizza £300, Richard, £850, Ashley, £3,000. In total Red Kite gave away £6,000 to help kickstart their businesses.
Everyone received certificates for completing the course and were very grateful for receiving the opportunity from Red Kite.
Previous graduates also joined and shared some great tips and tricks with everyone. Most of the catering was provided by our recent and previous business start-up.
You can view a video of the event here.
The course took place over 12 weeks, with a different workshop each week covering how to set up a successful business.
