Business Start up course 2016

Our graduates' businesses continue to go from strength to strength, find out more about their experiences below. In 2017 we will be running another Business Start-up course where a whole new batch of people will be able to learn what they need to get their business ideas off the ground.

Our Christmas Market 2016

Below is a short video of a Christmas market that we helped organise at our offices. A large proportion of the stalls in the market were manned by our Business Start-up graduates!

Our graduates

We talked to two of our past graduates about their experiences on our Business Start-up course, and how the support we gave them has helped them to make their businesses thrive. Jemma was already a fully qualified hairdresser and wanted to expand her knowledge base of male hairdressing. Key to her new business idea was being able to offer a hair cut service for the whole family, all from the comfort of their own home.

Along with a grant from us to get this training and some extra equipment, Jemma was able to get her business going in the right direction with regards to branding and learned how to ‘roll-out’ her business further afield from her regular customers.

“It has given me the knowledge and confidence to progress my business. I found the course very informative and helped in the areas I was unsure with. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone wanting to progress and start their own business.”

Annabel used our course as a push in the right direction to take something she enjoyed personally, and turn it into a fully fledged business.

Annabel had previously made handcrafted  gifts and clothing as a hobby, but decided that she wanted to turn it into a business. Annabel’s products are always popular and normally sell out at markets and trade shows. Her passion and pride for what she does was already evident when she started the course and she used the skills she gained on the course to create a business that will thrive in the years to come. In her own words:

“...It actually gave me the push I needed to start my business from a hobby, along with the knowhow and the confidence to actually do it! It gave me all the tools, support and funding too. It was my best achievement in 2015... if it hadn't been for Red Kite and the opportunity you generously gave me I wouldn't be doing what I do now. You've given me drive, direction and determination to succeed in running my own little business. Thank you for that!”
