Looking to improve your skills? Want to learn something new that’ll flesh out your CV? Or do you want to step out of your comfort zone and do something totally different?
We have opportunities to increase your skills, from courses that we run to supporting you with training if you volunteer with us. The training and experience you gain depends on the role you volunteer with us in, so visit our volunteering page to see the kind of training we offer.
Business Start-up course
Our Business Start-up course is a 12 week training course where we teach people in the local community the ins and outs of running their own business. Our first course in 2015 was a great success and we now offer the course on an annual basis. Find out more about our Business Start-up course here.
We teamed up with 'Empower to Cook' to offer a free cooking course to people who live in our communities. There were also sessions on money management, home budgeting, brand awareness and much more.

Supported by us with money from our community fund, The ToolShed aims to provide career opportunities for local, young people. It offers a 15 week multi-trade construction course, along with helping graduates to find work after the course is over. Find out more here.
Time Credits are a new incentive by 'Spice' to reward people for the time they spend volunteering. For each hour of volunteering you do, you'll earn a Time Credit which can be then redeemed at different places and organisations across the country.
Recently, we have offered training in level 1, 2 and 3 Excel in exchange for time credits.

Contractors that we work with are encouraged to take on apprentices from the local community and particularly from customers who live in our homes. We will advertise any vacancies as and when they arise on our website, under our current vacancies section.
