Bereavement affects everyone differently - and we are all likely to be affected by it at some point in our lives. Grief can have a devastating effect on emotional, physical and mental health and can be misunderstood or brushed under the carpet.
With the death rate set to increase by 20% in the next 20 years and continued cuts to the NHS, demand for bereavement support is higher than ever.
About Cruse Bereavement Care
Cruse Bereavement Care in High Wycombe has been providing free 1 to 1, group support and information to bereaved children and adults in the local area for over 20 years. Through a team of 30 bereavement volunteers it has supported hundreds of local people when they needed it most.
However Cruse High Wycombe is facing a significant rise in demand for services and increasing case complexity around mental health issues. This has created a backlog of clients, waiting for up to 4 months to receive support at a time when they are particularly vulnerable.
How the funding will help
'The Springboard funding will allow us to expand our team of bereavement volunteers in High Wycombe and recruit an administrator who will provide vital support and the ability to reach many more local bereaved people.'
