Applying for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) for some trainees. The three parties applying for the combined grant through ToolShed all have slightly different reasons for applying. The common reason across them all is that they want to build on what they have already learnt on the Level 1 diploma course. They are all very keen to achieve an NVQ qualification because it proves they have the skills to work on “real life” and “out of the classroom” assignments.
Unfortunately, there is not funding available for people who are aged 25 plus unless they are unemployed. The three applicants all work for ToolShed and want to develop their skill set so they can further their careers at ToolShed. While ToolShed can find them the relevant work and pay them while the complete the work, it cannot afford to pay the NVQ course fees. If you choose to support out application then three of our trainees (Dennis, Peter and Paul) will be able to start their NVQ, which will mean their skills are more recognised and they can progress beyond hand to mouth living. For Peter and Paul it also means they will become more confident and self-assured fathers - living more independently and securely. For Dennis it will reinforce that he is good at what he does and help him strengthen his self-belief.
