We have £100,000 a year to give away!

5 September 2018

Red Kite Community Housing has £100,000 each year to give away to community projects and individuals in the High Wycombe area over the next five years.

Caroline Green, People & Community Development Manager at Red Kite, explains: “On top of the £12million a year that we’re already investing in our homes with new kitchens, bathrooms and general maintenance, this new fund is all about people and projects that will realise their potential, create employment opportunities and positively contribute to our neighbourhoods.

“Many people need that extra bit of help to get them on the road to improving themselves or their communities or both, and the Springboard Fund is our way for this to happen.

“We want to ensure that the aspiring single parent, the family just about managing, and the entrepreneurs of this world are able to not just survive but thrive. We have created the Springboard Fund to enable anyone, from any background or circumstance to have opportunity to access the funding they need to realise their potential. This money is available to everyone in the district, not just Red Kite customers.”

Requests for under £2,000 are looked at by Red Kite’s Starting Blocks team. These grants exist to help those who need funding quickly. Starting Blocks requests can often be decided within a few days.

Red Kite recently granted £365 to Princes Risborough resident Laura to pay for books for her new university course and to help with childcare.Laura said: “The money I have received from Red Kite has been a massive help as I didn’t know how I was going to pay for these essential books. I would say to anyone who needs some help to better themselves to apply. It was easy to do, and I found out the decision quickly, it has really taken the pressure off.”

Red Kite Members are currently voting for who should receive funding from the first round of applications. This includes Fit and Fed, The Princes Centre, Wycombe Homeless Connection and Wycombe Sound. If you’re a Red Kite customer and would like to become a Member please email 01494 476221 or email to find out more.
