Change to repairs contractor
18 May 2018
Our current repairs contract is about to expire, so after looking at customer feedback and holding a series of discussions with our Customer and Community Insight Group (CCIG), our Core Procurement Group, senior managers and involved staff from around the organisation, together with our tenants, we have made the decision, backed by the Board, to explore alternatives with small to medium enterprises delivering the repairs service.
Through provisions we have planned for in the way we arrange our property related works, we are pleased to share that we have appointed Gilmartins as one of the interim contractors for reactive repairs. FSG will be our partner contractor for works to our empty homes, bringing them to the lettable standard and ready for customers to move in to. We will also be working with a number of other contractors to support the delivery of our repairs service for external works to the home, confirming who our customers should expect to see at their appointments at the time of reporting the need for work. We aim to see what impact we can have on the local economy and employment to help inform our way forward.
During this time, we will be exploring options for a longer-term partnership and continue our planned procurement for a permanent Repairs and Empty Homes contractor.
After Friday 22nd June, customers should only give access to approved contractors to carry out repairs – Red Kite will confirm who the contractors are before the appointments are scheduled.
If you have repairs to report, this can still be done in the same way, by calling 01494 476100 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please always make sure that you ask for ID from anyone calling at your home.
We hope that customers are reassured that we have listened to them and this is why we are making changes. In the long-term it will be a huge benefit to them as they will receive the service they deserve; repairs carried out quickly and efficiently.
