Watch out for fake tree surgeons

11 February 2016

Following storm damage at Patches Field on 14th January, the WDC arboricultural department carried out an inspection of the trees on Monday. We authorised the appointment of one of our regular firms of tree surgeons to carry out work and clear up the fallen timber. While they were on site, they noticed another firm of tree surgeons, knocking on doors, offering their services as the appointed contractors.

This was either opportunist touting for business, or an attempt to persuade residents into agreeing on works which they would then be asked to pay for. We want to make it clear that we would never expected any of our residents to agree to or pay for any works for which they had not been previously notified. All of our tree surgeons will be wearing identifying work-wear from one of the following contractors;

  • Gristwood and Tom
  • Glendale
  • High Elms
  • Advanced Tree Services
  • R Watts and Sons
  • J W Salmon

The operatives will usually have a copy of the work instructions bearing the WDC logo. If you want to make sure that any of our operatives are legitimate, you can contact us and we will be able to confirm it for you. Please don't be worried about asking for ID - our contractors are all prepared for you to ask this question!
