Teaching skills at The Toolshed
31 July 2015
We’re supporting the brand new, local social enterprise business ‘New Meaning’ to launch a traineeship programme called The ToolShed, providing a 15 week multi-trade construction course for 16 - 24 year olds.
The ToolShed aims to provide career opportunities for young people in the local community and meet the demand from local businesses for skilled workers. Alongside helping young people to make the most out of a multi-trade construction traineeship, the course also includes attitudinal sessions to discover strengths and learning styles.
The course is designed to give real-life help and advice and consists of taster sessions (in a number of different trades), completion of the CSCS card, Level 1 Health & Safety and three weeks work experience. Anyone who takes part in this course will finish with a Level 1 in Construction Multi-Trade, with a chance to specialise at Level 2.
We’re also offering support to secure work placements and find full-time employment after the course once they are qualified.
