Avoiding debt this Christmas
15 December 2015
More than any other time of year, at Christmas it’s easy to overspend with tempting offers and pressures to buy, but you should remember to prioritise your most important payments such as rent and utility bills.
We understand that it can be tempting to take out a high interest loan to buy Christmas presents. However, these are short-term loans aimed at people who are finding it difficult to make it through to their next payday. But, with already stretched budgets, you could find you can’t pay back what you owe in time and your debt problems can soon spiral of control. If you do need to borrow money, make sure you know what it’s going to cost you in the long run to do so, and when you will have to pay back so that you make an informed choice.
If you're finding yourself struggling with finances over the holiday season, remember that you can talk to our Home Budgeting Team, who will be happy to offer advice and signpost you in the right direction.
