As part of the promises we made at transfer, we said we would regenerate the Castlefield Star Blocks, which includes all 72 flats located in Chairborough Road and Pettifer Way, as well as the 25 homes in Longland Way. Having already held workshops with tenants and leaseholders, met with all residents individually to talk to them about their needs, set up our Regeneration Panel made up of tenants and leaseholders to help us make decisions and made great progress with the project, we are now ready to share our initial plans with you!
Overview of our proposals
We have not yet created our detailed design proposals for the site. However, our initial vision is for an entirely residential development, made up of more spacious homes in a range of sizes and tenures. The layout will be similar to the current layout, with small blocks containing flats, but we plan to improve on the current situation by opening up the middle of the site to provide more public open space. We also hope to create a better link between the homes and the nature reserve.
On Tuesday 8th November 2016, we held our first public consultation to get feedback on the early proposals, so that we can create more detailed proposals that we will come back out with early in 2017. If you weren't able to make it to the consultation, here is what we shared:
